Membership Categories: Who is Eligible?

CRU (Campus Recreation and Unions) Membership is available to anyone 18 and older.

Community Membership

Community Membership is open to everyone who currently belongs to the Cal Aggie Alumni Association, which anyone can join for just $50 a year (including those unaffiliated with UC Davis).

University Affiliate Membership

University Affiliate Membership is open to the following groups:

UC Davis Alumni
UC Davis Faculty/Staff
UC Davis Retirees
UC Davis Affiliates: UC Davis Extension students, Sacramento City College students and faculty/staff, PELP students, IEPP students, and others
Immediate Family Members: spouses, children 18 and older, siblings, parents

Additional Details About University Affiliates

  • UC Davis Extension Students:
    • UC Davis Extension students may purchase a CRU University Affiliate Membership at any time during the quarter in which they take a class (i.e. if you take a four-week class in January, you may purchase a CRU Membership at the lower University Affiliate rate until March, including Day Pass, One-Month, Three-Month, Six-Month, Nine-Month and Annual).
  • Sacramento City College Students and Faculty/Staff:
    • Sacramento City College students and faculty/staff may purchase a CRU University Affiliate Membership at any time during the quarter in which they take a class (i.e. if you take a four-week class in January, you may purchase a CRU Membership at the lower University Affiliate rate until March, including Day Pass, One-Month, Three-Month, Six-Month, Nine-Month and Annual).
  • Family Members:
    • CRU Members can sponsor immediate family members. Family members must be 18 and older. They can remain members as long as the member/sponsor remains eligible.

UC Davis Student Membership

Currently enrolled UC Davis students who pay fees (tuition) may particpate in Intramural Sports and use the ARC (Activities and Recreation Center), Rec Pool and Hickey Pool at no additional cost. They are also already eligible for student rates on other CRU programming.

Student Summer Membership

Recent graduates and continuing students not enrolled in Summer Session can purchase a Student Summer Membership (see below).

How to Purchase a CRU Membership

No matter what form of payment you use, you will first need to visit the CRU Member Services Desk at the ARC during operational hours in order to sign a waiver and complete some brief paperwork.

Once you have completed the paperwork, if you plan to purchase your membership with a debit card, credit card or Payroll Deduction, you can remain at (or return to) the Member Services Desk. If you plan to pay with cash, check or Monthly Installments, you must purchase your membership at the Business Center, conveniently located inside the ARC. Check current Business Center hours before coming in, as they differ from ARC hours.

University Affiliate Membership

What to Bring

  • Alumni/ae (must be graduated UC Davis alum)
    • Copy of diploma.
  • Faculty/Staff
    • Staff photo ID card, or photo ID plus IDOC form.
  • Affiliates (UC Davis Extension students, Sacramento City College students and faculty/staff, PELP students, IEPP students, and others)
    • Proof of affiliation and a photo ID.
      • Sacramento City College students must bring in their student ID card and a current class schedule.
      • Sacramento City College faculty and staff must bring in their staff ID card.
  • Family Members
    • CRU Members must be present when their family members sign up for or renew their membership.
    • Both the CRU Member and their family member must have photo ID at time of purchase.
    • Family member must show proof of residence (e.g., piece of mail, driver's license with current address).

  • Must be current CAAA member at time of purchase or renewal.
  • Must continue CAAA membership throughout duration of CRU Membership.

Day Passes

  • Anyone can purchase a Day Pass at the CRU Member Services Desk at the ARC during operational hours.
  • Once purchased, a Day Pass can later be credited toward a full membership (One-Month, Three-Month, Six-Month, Nine-Month or Annual). You can only credit one Day Pass; thereafter, no additional Day Passes can be credited toward a full membership.
  • The Day Pass must be credited by the next business day, during operational hours at the Member Services Desk.

Student Summer Membership

Payment Options

You can pay with credit, debit, cash, check, Monthly Installments or Payroll Deduction. (For information about Monthly Installments, see Annual Memberships below. For information about where to go and what to do in order to purchase a membership, see How to Purchase a CRU Membership above.)

Annual Memberships

You can make a one-time payment to purchase an Annual Membership, or you can pay in Monthly Installments with a Visa or MasterCard (see pricing table above). To set up Monthly Installments, visit the Business Center in the ARC during their business hours. You may only pay in Monthly Installments with a Visa or MasterCard credit card. Monthly Installments can only be set up for Annual Memberships.

Payroll Deduction for UC Davis Faculty/Staff

If you are a UC Davis faculty or staff member, you can choose to have your membership dues automatically deducted from your paycheck each month. Employees must receive a university paycheck to qualify. To set up Payroll Deduction, stop by the CRU Member Services Desk at the ARC during operational hours with your faculty/staff ID card.

Group Exercise Payroll Deduction

UC Davis faculty and staff can also pay for Group Exercise passes through Payroll Deduction. The Group Exercise Payroll Deduction option provides access to all the Group Exercise offerings, including classes in Abs and Core, Resistance and Strength Training, Cycling, and Cardio. The monthly payroll deduction is $15. To set up Group Exercise Payroll Deduction, bring your faculty/staff ID card to the Business Center, conveniently located in the ARC, during their business hours.

Cancellations

To cancel your membership, please stop by the CRU Member Services Desk at the ARC with your CRU Membership card or faculty/staff ID card and fill out a cancellation form. See below for additional details.

Annual Memberships

If you cancel your Annual Membership before the completion of your first year, you will be assessed a $35 early termination fee. Exceptions to the early termination clause include loss of job, moving 50 miles or more from the ARC (documentation required), sudden illness, and loss of life. This policy applies to all types of Annual Memberships, both One-Time Payment and Monthly Installment.

Payroll Deduction

Payroll Deduction cancellation requests must be submitted by 5 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month that you want your Payroll Deduction to end. If your cancellation request is submitted after 5 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month, the cancellation will not go into effect until the following month. Please stop by the CRU Member Services Desk at the ARC with your faculty/staff ID card to fill out a cancellation form.

Refund Policies

Please note: all Community Memberships are non-refundable, as are daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly Affiliate Memberships.
