Are you looking for specific instruction for Dance? FitWell is proud to offer private dance lessons through our dance series program. Recieve instructions tailored to help you reach your goals from one of our skilled dance instructors.
These private dance lessons can either be one-on-one or buddy depending on your interest. You also have the opportunity to work with either a student instructor or one of our contract instructors. Prices vary depending on instructor.

**Active CR membership is required to attend classes all throughout the year, including summers.
Class registration ends at 11:59 p.m. on April 13th. Any transfer requests or exceptions to the regristration deadline need to be submitted to the Fitness & Wellness Center.
Learn the basics of classical ballet technique and feel like a ballet dancer in no time! We will focus in on the common structure of a ballet class including barre, center floor exercises, and some fun across the floor variations. No experience necessary for this class. Just come with an open mind and get ready to have fun! Tight clothes and socks required (tights, leotard, and ballet shoes optional).
Ballroom, Latin, & Swing
Learn to dance like the stars! Make new friends as you learn the basic fundamentals of East Coast Swing,Foxtrot, Rumba, Tango, Waltz, Cha-Cha, Nightclub Two Step, and Salsa as well as gain an understanding of what makes each dance unique. You will also learn a variety of patterns in each dance, giving you all the tools you need to light up the dance floor anywhere you go.
Bellydance: All Levels
In this class, students will learn basic bellydance techniques including posture, muscle isolations, shimmies, footwork, layering, and undulations. Classes will start with a focus on specific movements to add to your bellydance vocabulary and will end with learning a short choreography designed to coordinate the new moves to music. Occasionally prop dancing may be included (veil, zills, etc). Additionally, historic and cultural information about bellydance will be incorporated throughout.
No prior dance experience necessary. All genders welcome. Please come wearing comfortable clothing that will allow you to move (showing your stomach is not a requirement!). Be prepared to dance barefoot, or in flexible dance shoes (e.g. ballet slippers, jazz shoes). If you have a belt or scarf that can be tied around your hips, bring it! This will help emphasize your movements and make learning isolations easier!
Hip Hop: All Levels
This class will provide you with the basic fundamentals of hip hop drawing some of the hottest new moves. Choreography will allow students to find and use their own unique style that will be influenced by the music.
Jazz: All Levels
This class is for people of all dance levels. Even if you have no dance experience and are looking for a fun way to stay in shape, feel free to give this a try. Combining abdominal, leg, and arm work outs and dancing across the floor and in the center of the room, this class will also be taught flirty, fun, and poppy hip hop routines to contemporary music that will vary from week to week.
Modern/ Contemporary: All Levels
This is an all-level class with something to offer to every kind of dancer. Class will include warm up, across the floor progressions, center work, and choreographed combinations. An ideal class for those interested in exploring and developing body connectivity, movement, and musicality without the stress of strict technique. Comfortable clothes and bare feet required.
Salsa: All Levels
Salsa is a fusion of dance styles with origins from the Caribbean (Cuba and Puerto Rico), Latin and North America. Make new friends as students learn: the basic steps, turns, rhythm, and music. From there, we will continue to develop styling, connection, and partnering as students learn new and exciting patterns.This course is designed to serve all levels of dancers by introducing the fundamentals of Salsa in a clear and easy to understand manner and re-enforcing everything learned while building on foundational skills with thrilling new techniques and patterns to use out on the dance floor.
You took the beginning Salsa class, you've learned the basics and now you want more styling and technique so you can boldly express the music and have even more fun. Salsa is a fusion of dance styles with origins from the Caribbean (Cuba and Puerto Rico), Latin and North America. We will continue to develop styling, connection, and partnering as students learn new and exciting patterns.
Tap: All Levels
Tap is one of the most respected forms of dance that provides a sense of rhythm, timing, and coordination. Each week will focus on fundamental techniques that will be incorporated in a routine at the end of class. Tap dance emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching the dancer to find rhythms and beats not only in music but in their own bodies. If you have ever been curious about the intersection of dance and percussion, tap is the way to go. Tap shoes are recommended but not required.
