This Half Arabian/half paint solid bay gelding loves to eat! He is playful and a fun horse to hang out with. Chance is a special part of our recreational lesson program and is a great beginner mount, specifically for those who have never ridden before. He always takes care of his rider.
Dash, a 2003 American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) gelding, came to us from San Diego. Although new to the Hunter Jumper team, he has quickly become a favorite and is already known to be a big teddy bear. He is responsive and attentive to his riders – we are lucky to have him!
This 16.3-hand black gelding was foaled in 2003 and originally joined the UC Davis Hunter Jumper Team in 2014. Tall, dark and handsome, Flannigan has the whole package! He is a favorite among our hunter/jumper team, and it’s no wonder why with his good looks and goofy personality. He’s often seen hanging with his pals in pasture.
Holster comes to us from a ranch in Northern California and is a true cowboy. He spends each school year giving lessons before returning to the ranch for summer camp. He is a chestnut Quarter Horse. Approach him slowly because he is a little shy, but he’ll warm up to you in no time. He is a wonderful mount for beginners and used in the recreational lesson program.
This beautiful 2005 buckskin paint gelding comes to us from Newcastle, California. Since joining our program in 2016, he has shown himself to be a true gentlemen and fantastic beginner’s mount. He is used by the Hunter Jumper and Dressage Teams.
Reddy is a 15.3-hand chestnut mustang gelding. He has been coming to UC Davis every fall since 2005. He is part of the herd that comes from the ranch in Northern California. He is a sturdy guy with a quiet and sensitive disposition. Reddy may act a little shy at first, but a horse cookie will make him love you forever. He is a member of the Hunter Jumper team.
Sable is an Irish thoroughbred mare who came to us in the summer of 2014 from Lake Tahoe. Sable likes to go and is eager to please. She loves to jump and in her younger days competed in 1.20-meter—that’s four feet!—jumper classes. She is an asset to the Hunter Jumper Team.
Sassi is a beautiful blue roan mare. She is a Quarter Horse with a bald face and one blue eye. She comes from the ranch in Northern California each fall, and it’s always great to have her back. She’s reliable, consistent and a favorite in our recreational lesson program.
This adorable 2006 purebred Arabian mare came to us in 2015 with little formal education, but she found her way into our team program and learned quickly! With a great head on her shoulders and a lot of will, she has become a very special part of the Dressage and Hunter Jumper Teams.
Shinto is a sweet and calm bay Quarter Horse mare with a big blaze.She has been coming to UC Davis since 2005. She comes from a ranch in Northern California each fall. Her quiet demeanor and good training make her a favorite in the recreational lesson program.
Handsome Sienna also comes to UC Davis from the ranch in Northern California. This cute chestnut with chrome—that’s horse talk for a lot of white markings that stand out—is as easygoing and sensible as they come. Any cowboy would be lucky to have him as their mount! Sienna is a member of the Hunter Jumper Team.
Ukiah is another horse that comes to us from the ranch in Northern California. This sweet and sassy chestnut paint has a big personality. His outgoing personality makes him a favorite in our Guardian Angel volunteer program! His wonderful temperment makes him a great part of the recreational lesson program.
Zen joined the Hunter Jumper team in 2017. This beautiful black Holsteiner mare’s previous owner was an international pentathlon competitor and competed Zen in dressage and 1.20-meter jumping competitions. She is sweet and quiet – making her a fast favorite in team lessons.
Ziggy is a 15.2-hand Percheron/thoroughbred gelding and is as loveable as they come. A favorite of our riders, he has proven himself an invaluable horse for both the Hunter Jumper and Dressage Teams. He is very good-natured with smooth gaits and a cute jump. He’s often seen hanging with his pals in pasture.
