The 25-acre Equestrian Center operates an extensive year-round English and Western riding program. Located on campus, the center features horse-boarding facilities, a 45,000-square-foot covered riding arena, a regulation dressage court, four barns and several pastures. Whether you are new to the sport or an experienced rider, you'll gain skills and confidence under the direction of our professionally trained staff.
Boarding Spaces Available at the Equestrian Center
The Equestrian Center has openings for stall spaces in Fall Quarter. Take advantage of our convenient on-campus location and ride on any or all of the equestrian teams that call the Equestrain Center home. We boast many riding spaces, including a grass derby field and surrounding hilly galloping track, a supersized covered arena, regulation dressage court, two additional outdoor arenas, and several turnouts. The facility is fully staffed with four resident barn supervisors for 24/7 care. Stall board includes daily cleaning and twice daily feedings of grass and/or alfalfa hay. Pasture board includes twice daily feeding of orchard grass hay and alfalfa hay and regular cleaning. Muriel B. Gill Fee Waiver Program
The Equestrian Center is excited to offer a fee waiver program for students interested in group lessons for the upcoming school year. Made possible by a generous gift from the Gill family, current UC Davis students can apply for a fee waiver to allow them to enroll in group lessons at half the usual cost. The application period for Fall Quarter 2016 is currently closed. The link to apply will repoen prior to Winter Quarter 2017 Registration. See the "Lessons" page for more information.
Fall Session I Lessons Open for Registration September 1
Fall Session I lessons will open for registration on September 1st. Fall Session I lessons will run October 3–October 30. Fall Session II lessons will open for registration on October 17th. Come enjoy Northern California's beautiful Fall weather at the Equestrian Center!
Guardian Angel Training
The Guardian Angel training series will run concurrently with each lesson session. The training series is required for all individuals wishing to participate in the Guardian Angel program at the Equestrian Center. Important aspects of horse care, horse behavior and safety will be covered. Upon completion of the training series, participants will be assigned a horse and will become a Guardian Angel!
